Size & Fit

Âme Dare does not work from a single standardised size chart. Each piece is developed around its own proportions — the way a shoulder is set, how a collar falls, where a sleeve breaks. A garment is shaped by its silhouette, not fitted into a system.

The chart below reflects the body measurements our jackets and coats are drafted from. It is a starting point. Exact garment measurements for every piece are listed in its product page, under Size Guide.

Body Measurements

Outerwear and tailored jackets. Measurements refer to the body, in centimetres.

Bust Waist Hips Shoulders
S 87–93 64–70 94–100 40.5–41.5
M 93–99 70–76 100–106 41.5–42.5
L 99–105 76–82 106–112 42.5–43.5

Approximate equivalents: S — EU 36 / US 4 · M — EU 38 / US 6 · L — EU 40 / US 8

Understanding the Fit

Our outerwear is drafted with a layer in mind. The shoulder sits intentionally slightly dropped, and the volume through the body allows a knit beneath without disturbing the line.

If your measurements fall between two sizes, the decision belongs to how you intend to wear the piece.

Choosing the smaller size gives a closer, more defined silhouette — but a heavy knit underneath will sit tightly. Choosing the larger size leaves room for thicker layers and a softer, more relaxed line.

Neither is more correct. It is a question of the presence you want the garment to have.

One Size Pieces

Some silhouettes are developed as one size. Their proportions are resolved as a whole rather than graded, and the guidance above does not apply to them. Full measurements are listed in each product page.

Length

Where a height is indicated — 167 cm and above — it refers to length only, not to proportion. The garment is drafted to fall a particular way at that height.

If you are shorter, the piece can be shortened by a tailor of your choosing. We recommend it be done by someone experienced with the fabric. Alterations are arranged and covered by you; we do not carry them out.

How to Measure

Measure over light clothing, with the tape level and close to the body but never tight.

Bust — around the fullest part.

Waist — at the narrowest point, usually just above the navel.

Hips — around the fullest part, roughly 20 cm below the waist.

Shoulders — from one shoulder point to the other, across the back.

If You Are Unsure

Write to us. We will look at your measurements together with the piece you have in mind and tell you honestly which size we would recommend — and if we think it is not right for you, we will say so.
